F.A.Q. about Advanced Direct Remailer. Mailing lists.
|
21. What mailing list formats are supported by ADR? Advanced Direct Remailer supports some mailing list formats: simple mailing lists (.TXT, .LST), comma separated values (.CSV) lists, mailing lists created by SQL-request on fly (.SQL), Windows Address Books (.WAB; Exchange, Outlook, Outlook Express and Internet Mail use them as its own address book) and address groups in address books. See program help system to know more about mailing list formats. If your software uses some special format, let us know and we'll realize its support in the program (probably). |
|
22. Does ADR support mailing lists in custom formats? Just contact us and we will be glad to realize the support of another mailing list format. We aim at our program compatibility with the most popular applications and work hard at it. |

23. How to create and use mailing lists? Besides providing for connection of your mail client with ADR, the internal mail server has one more important function - supporting mailing lists. Mailing lists are set up through configuring mailboxes on the "Mailboxes" tab in ADR settings. ADR mailbox is not a message storage. When a mailbox is set up, mailing lists and plugins are linked to it. When a message gets into the mailbox, it is delivered using mailing lists linked to that mailbox and is processed by the linked plugins. All the resulting messaged are placed to the OutBox folder. See program help system to know more about mailing list setting and mailboxes ideology. If you intend to use simple text file (.LST or .TXT) as mailing list, you can create it by any text editor. The Windows Address Book (.WAB) can also act as mailing list, it is used by Exchange, Internet Mail, Outlook and Outlook Express. Database SQL-request or CSV-file exported, e.g., from spreadsheets can play a role of mailing list too. See program help system to know more about mailing list formats supported by ADR. |

24. How to get recipient address (not a list address) in "To" field? Mark "Set recipient email in "To:" field, not mailing list email" item on "Server" tab in ADR general settings. Otherwise the "To:" field will contain the address of mailing list. Sometimes the second option is more preferable for user because he can guess that this letter is not personal and doesn't require his special attention or his answer. |
