This article contains short advice about how to work with Advanced Direct Remailer. You will know more about program’s possibilities if you read this article.

How to start the work with ADR after installation?

If you have direct Internet connection you can do no settings in ADR. You only have to set your mail program for mail delivery  through ADR replacing SMTP mail server address by localhost (see “Mail program settings”). If you are in LAN and don’t have real IP address, only address like 10.1.1.5, you have to set program for working through Socks5 proxy server (see “Setting of Proxy”).

How to set mailing by database?

ADR supports mailing lists formed on fly by SQL database request (see “Mailing list formats”). Use FromSQL plugin for merging a mailing with database and printing information from database by message-template (see “About FromSQL plugin”).

How to make XRay plugin process all messages?

Since ADR 1.3 version you can process with plugin’s help all outcoming messages, but not only messages sending by mailing list. Just create adr-any box and add to it XRay plugin (see “Special mailboxes”).

How to increase the speed of message delivery?

When ADR deliver message not through provider (“Delivery via ISP” is turn off) it extract mail server address from DNS, connect with server and send the message. The connection with DNS servers using by default may take about 2-3 seconds. To shorten this time till 0.5 second it is recommended to set DNS addresses of your provider (see “Setting of DNS”). You can also increase number of simultaneously sending messages (see “Setting of Delivery”).

How better to end the delivery?

You can end the delivery using Stop or Pause button. In first case the delivery ends immediately, so there is a risk that some message delivery will be interrupted near its end when mail server have receive the message, but the session was not finished. Then such message will be marked as “not delivered” and ADR will be try to deliver it next time. The second variant is more preferable besause ADR will complete the started message deliveries without starting new deliveries.

How to set X program for working with ADR?

If a program deliver mail using SMTP protocol then you can configure it for working with ADR. Just replace SMTP mail server address in X program by localhost (see “Mail program setting”). So, you can configure for working with ADR any mail program, mail server, mass mailer and etc.

How to send  letters for some domains through ISP?

If you want to send all letters through ISP, then turn on the “Delivery via ISP” switch in Monitor window. If you want to send letters for some domains through ISP and the others letters – directly,  you can do it in ADR since version 1.52 by the “delay list”.
