Mailing list formats

Two mailing list formats are supported. The first is a simple text file, where each line contains one e-mail address. The maximum number of addresses in the checked list is 1000000. If your list is longer, divide it into a few parts with the AMVSplit utility. Address can be written by any way, for example:

amv@gorlach.koenig.su

<amv@gorlach.koenig.su>

Alexander P. Gorlach <amv@gorlach.koenig.su>

“Alexander P. Gorlach” <amv@gorlach.koenig.su>

“Alexander P. Gorlach” amv@gorlach.koenig.su

“Alexander P. Gorlach amv@gorlach.koenig.su”

‘Alexander P. Gorlach amv@gorlach.koenig.su’

Alexander P. Gorlach amv@gorlach.koenig.su

amv@gorlach.koenig.su - Alexander P. Gorlach

If your mailing list has some special format – just contact us, and we’ll probably support it in the future versions of AMV. Just note that most programs can export their data from their own formats to text files (and back) – for example, Outlook Express.

You also can use the special syntax of e-mail – MAILBOX@[SMTP-SERVER]. For example, to check up a mailbox alex on smtp.enet.ru server, write alex@[smtp.enet.ru].

The server can be given by the domain or IP-address, the tcp-port can be specified, too (25 by default).

The second format is CSV. It has been made specially for Outlook Express users. You can export all address book to the CSV file; load that file into AMV, save the result, clear the address book in Outlook Express and import it back from the CSV-file. It is recommended to make the backup copy of address book! In CSV-files, only first address of e-mail is checked.

Since version 2.0 AMV can verify Windows Address Books directly, without any conversion.
