Consumers 'just say no' to prolific internet spam. |
Ellen Spertus was outraged when Kozmo.com still sent her e-mail after she declined such pitches. So she sued the online retailer under California's 1998 anti-spam law. Spertus is among a handful of individuals who have chosen to fight unsolicited e-mail in court. They've had mixed success so far in what many consider only the early skirmishes of a war on spam. Junk e-mail is a growing and costly nuisance, clogging e-mail systems with promises to lose weight, make money or see people naked. ... »

Jury duty e-mails are scams |
New Hampshire court officials say peers across the United States are reporting that residents elsewhere have become targets of a bogus, e-mail message that orders them to appear for jury duty. Court officials in Florida, Wisconsin, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles say residents are getting the same messages sent to New Hampshire citizens in recent days which could be the work of latest experiment in “gotcha” television that debuts this weekend. State Supreme Court spokesperson Laura Kiernan said the messages appear to have come from producers of “The Jamie Kennedy Experiment,” a new WB network show set to premier Sunday. ... »

Many readers and a handful of co-workers have asked me about an e-mail warning of an infected file called sulfnbk.exe, which supposedly contains a virus that, in some versions of the warning, is triggered June 1. ... »

Poor response to e-mails gold mine for company |
Some retailers' dismal response to customer e-mails during the holiday season could be good news for Westminster-based Finali Corp.
