Telstra Corp Ltd said today it was investigating a computer software fault which impacted 68,000 of its customers' e-mail accounts early this week. Telstra said the glitch for all account names starting with I,L or M had been repaired and customers should contact the company if they felt compensation was due. However, Telstra's Big Pond mail service is not covered by a customer guarantee service and claims are likely to be limited. Toronto — Someone posing as a technical support representative of the already troubled @Home high-speed Internet service — and possibly based in Ottawa — has been trying to infect subscribers' computers with a virus. A new ILOVEYOU-style worm called "MyBabyPic" has begun landing in e-mail inboxes around the world, but users shouldn't be fooled by its seemingly harmless nature, virus experts warned. The worm, which first appeared early Tuesday, arrives carrying an attached file, MYBABYPIC.EXE, that's written in Visual Basic. The Direct Marketing Association yesterday said that it is joining with Greenfield Online to offer DMA members a Web site evaluation service. The DMA will use Greenfield's SCORE component of the company's WebSuite product line.
